Natural Gas

Natural gas is a fossil fuel composed primarily of methane (CH4), a compound of carbon and hydrogen. It is found deep beneath the earth’s surface, often in association with other fossil fuels like oil, and is formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms over millions of years under intense heat and pressure. Natural gas is used as an energy source for heating, electricity generation, and as a fuel for vehicles. It is also a key raw material in the production of chemicals, fertilizers, and plastics. As a relatively cleaner-burning fossil fuel compared to coal and oil, natural gas emits less carbon dioxide and pollutants when combusted. It can be delivered to consumers through pipelines or in its liquefied state as liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it a versatile energy resource.
